About Seven Strands for Seven Years

Havdalah is a weekly ritual. A havdalah candle must have at least two flames to form a torch. Shmita is the seventh year in a cycle of seven years. Simply adjusting the number of wicks of the havdalah candle to seven during the shmita year is a simple way to observe shmita, weekly.
