Jewish communities are collectively taking action in response to climate change. Bruce Spierer from Adamah’s Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition will share about ways to commit to climate action in your synagogue, including creating a path to net zero emissions and expanding your impact.
Representatives from USCJ synagogues Diane Edelson from Agudath Israel, Caldwell, NJ, and Jennifer Lader from Brith Sholom, Bethlehem, PA, will offer research results & examples for taking climate action in their synagogues and creating an internal structure to support environmental goals for the long term.
This event is taking place as part of the Masorti Environmental Sustainability Initiative (MESI) of the Conservative Movement’s Weeks of Learning and Doing webinar series, taking place throughout the Omer (between Pesach and Shavuot). The webinar content is inspired by the concepts of Head (learning), Heart (spirituality), and Hand (action/advocacy). The series offers topics about the environment, Judaism and spirituality, food, greening your synagogue, and climate change that educate, inspire, and motivate. This series is free and open to all.
The Conservative movement is comprised of institutions including congregations, schools, camps and seminaries worldwide. The Rabbinical Assembly, the membership organization for Conservative rabbis has approximately 1,700 members who proudly serve the institutions of the movement, as well as the larger Jewish community.
